Kuntinuum: Salon for Lesbian Creatives

Kuntinuum (kunt + continuum) is a salon for lesbian creatives. It aims to cultivate a community to help improve and sustain their creative practice, through providing a context in which artists freely exchange ideas. Each Kuntinuum will have a new theme of discussion. The debut event will be; visibility and new intersections in lesbian independent cinema.
Kuntinuum aims to provide an empowering, unique and safe space to share experiences of different creative disciplines by and for those who identify as lesbian. It also aims to mobilize informal networking and present a space for the announcement of future projects of the salonnières. Interlinking with the theme of the meeting, participants are encouraged to share their recent creations (films, photography, illustration, writings, artwork etc.).
In the first half we will have short films screening by lesbian identified filmmakers. We have curated these films in the hopes to promote and introduce lesser known filmmakers and their work. In the second half there will be a talk by a guest speaker followed by open discussion about the films and current industry practices.
Currently there are no regular groups I have come across in London for lesbians in creative fields having their own meeting group – their own specific space, not simply an appendage to the wider LGBT spectrum – that also wasn’t a bar or club night, so the genesis of kuntinuum came from the desire to create such a space!
The event will not be open to the public – we will be inviting selected artists and their friends.
