Women’s Strike Assembly (LND)

23rd November 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Women’s Strike 2018
On 8 March 2018 we are going on strike. Women across the country will be walking out of our kitchens, offices, universities, bedrooms, schools, hospitals, factories and shops. We will be on strike from our waged jobs. We will be on strike from the work we do that we don’t receive a wage for – all the cooking, cleaning and caring that keeps the world turning and profit flowing. The Women’s Strike will disrupt business as usual. We will meet each other on streets and in the strike assemblies. We will strike and we will win.

Women are striking because our conditions of life and labor – especially for women of colour and working, unemployed, and migrant women – have gotten worse over the last 30 years. More wealth is in the hands of the few and less is in our hands. Our schools and teachers are under attack, and our children are the victims. Our health system was once the best in the world, and now it is crisis and close to falling apart. Unleashed racism drives harsh deportation measures, attacks on Muslims and see thousands of refugees drowning in the Mediterranean. There is money for prisons, detention centres and private companies but not for social services and housing.
