SUMMARY:ATF SPECIAL: Nappy Printing and Healthcare Cutting
DESCRIPTION:Mums\, dads\, carers\, kids and friends! Join us for an afternoon of making our own nappy cloths prints using the freshest monthly maternity statistics\, while discussing the latest healthcare reforms in maternity services. \nHealthcare reform policies such as “Leading Change – Adding Value” (May 2016) show how healthcare is being remodelled according to measurable metrics\, which rely on data produced by expecting mothers\, new born babies and working midwives. Midwives and healthcare staff are even asked to demonstrate their own value through data collection. But who harvests the value of these datasets\, and with what benefits? \nLoes and Alex are exploring how we can use art and making to understand and respond to the new systems and values being introduced into healthcare. In this workshop we’ll present the background to these changes and share research tools to make sense of healthcare policies\, statistics and data production. Then we will interpret the newest maternity policies using DIY stamp and print making methods\, such as potato stamps\, and make pretty nappies for our baby-friends to poop in! \nWorkshop is open to all! Come and discuss current healthcare reforms while making some pretty nappy cloths to take home. \nWe try to make everything we do accessible to all ages and abilities as far as we can\, and are happy to provide alternative things to do if that makes more sense.
