Periods and Gender Workshop
10th June 2018 @ 10:30 am - 4:30 pm
How do we define gender?
How is it connected to the menstrual cycle?
How is our gender identity impacted when we don’t / no longer bleed?
How is our language excluding other’s experiences?
Are our narratives around gender and periods supporting our journeys?
These and other questions suggested by participants will be addressed throughout the day.
Through a series of structures we will have a chance to approach these topics with words and through our bodies. Interacting with others we will access our collective knowledge and build upon each other’s experience. Sharing in groups will allow us to go open up about our personal experiences navigating our identity and our relationship with our menstrual cycle.
Whether you are a woman that struggles with pain, a gender-queer person that hates bleeding, a non-binary individual that joins moon rituals, a trans man that has to take lots of pain killers, someone that loves their period or any other configuration where gender and periods intersect, you and your story are welcome.
Together we can decolonise our bodies.
Together we can choose new stories.
Together we can amplify the voices of those more impacted by stigma.
Together we can unlearn the shame stored in our bodies.
Suggested donation £5 to cover venue costs.
