The Common House Clinic is a low cost acupuncture/complementary health clinic. We set up the clinic because we think that quality healthcare should be accessible to all. Although primary healthcare is currently free to most people (but not everyone) complementary healthcare is not, in fact it is too expensive for most people. We want to make it accessible to those who wouldn’t ordinarily be able to afford it.
What sort of clinic is it?
It is a multibed community clinic. This means patients are treated in the same space at the same time. By treating patients in this way we can treat a much higher number of people and keep the cost down. There are also some great benefits to being treated in a mutually healing space with others. Patients are not asked to undress, only to wear loose clothes. Most people are treated sitting in chairs, and there are a number of treatment tables as well. There is some separation by curtains but in a multibed clinic there is less privacy.
This clinic is NOT suitable for people who require one to one treatment or complete privacy.
What treatment is offered?
Currently you can receive acupuncture. We hope that in due course other types of therapists will be offering their treatment here as well. For more information about acupuncture and what it can do please look at the British Acupuncture Council website.
Looking after ourselves is really important. How we care for ourselves and others has a knock on effect. Better individual health feeds into better community health and the benefits of good community care spread exponentially and manifest in areas beyond just physical health. Many of us have experienced burnout, severe illness or pain or emotional distress which makes living a joyous life more difficult, this in turn makes relating to the world and taking positive actions more difficult. Taking care of ourselves and other is hugely beneficial.
Who treats the patients?
You will be treated by fully qualified and experienced practitioners.
Where is it? When is it?
The clinic is located at the Common House on Mondays from 12-6pm. There are no appointments, just turn up anytime and wait to be treated.
How much does it cost?

Pay what you can afford within these price ranges. If you are on a higher income and feel you can pay more to support the clinic we are grateful.
