Activist Cafe: a space to connect, exchange, talk, strategise, plan, hang out, recuperate.

– Want to hear what others are up to?
– Want to get help for your project or people to work with you on your new idea?
– Want to recruit more people for your next action?
– Want to hang out with like-minded people in a[n online] space where you don’t feel obliged to pay £5 for a pint [cause you can get one from your fridge ;)]?
– Want to just come along, chill out, [virtually] meet some people and see what happens?

This episode features: *Why and How to set up a Solidarity Fund in three easy steps, with Seth of the Goose Green Solidarity Fund.* Talk starts at 7 with open discussion on this and other topics from 7:30. Shout-outs to other events/actions welcome!

About the Goose Green Solidarity Fund:
Over in SE22 we’ve been busy over the last few weeks, figuring out what to do to best assist the community (or communities) that exist in this suburban patch of London. SE22 looks prosperous in capitalist terms but hides the same inequality that exists elsewhere in London. So, with this in mind, we created a Solidarity Fund, which is growing week by week, to provide funds to people who need it, as quickly as possible. We ask only that people are from SE22 and even that has been flexible as and when it’s needed; we’re also providing resources to other funds nearby being set up. It’s a work in progress and continually adapting, but we thought it would be worthwhile to explain our ethos, and our practical work too.
If you want to find out more, about how to run one yourself, then we’re here to answer to the best of our ability! Solidarity to all -Seth, one of four admins of the Goose Green Solidarity Fund.

What’s the Activist cafe?
This idea of the Activist cafe comes out of the regular State of Emergency Assemblies that have been happening since August (organised by Women’s Strike Assembly, Plan C, Anti-University and others) – we found that the most valuable thing about them was just having the space to meet people from other groups, catch up, make new connections and make sure that we don’t all waste time reinventing the wheel at a time when resources are scarce. All struggles are connected but where is the space for all activists and organisers to connect? IRL [online during the pandemic]? so we decided to start a regular Activist Cafe, the first one was Monday 3 Feb at the Common House, the second one on 27 Feb at 56a Infoshop and at another space near you soon at regular intervals. Get in touch via DM if you’d like to host [online for now]!!
